Therapeutic Massage

I use a variety of massage techniques. The basic format is generally Swedish, the classic tonic massage: a systematic manipulation of the body´s soft tissues based on knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. Additional specific modalities are generally used as needed in a session, such as trigger point myotherapy or myofascial release.

Therapeutic Massage is designed to release muscular tension and increase local blood circulation, easing pain and assisting with injury rehabilitation. Some of the many measurable, beneficial physiological effects are:

Massage induces general relaxation and all the health benefits associated with stress reduction---the release of natural endorphins, serotonin and oxytocin, and the feelings of well-being they produce.

Make Therapeutic Massage a part of your wellness practices: both regimen and reward!

Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy, developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, is an integration of traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese energy meridian therapies, and the manipulative therapy traditions of early 20th Century American osteopathic medical practitioners.

I aim to balance the specific vibrational frequencies associated with the five elements using Polarity bodywork, a unique therapy that integrates the light energetic touch of biofield therapy techniques with soft tissue and pressure point manipulation.

Contact with points associated with energy and/or elements, rocking, some craniosacral balancing, stretching, joint mobilization, reflexology and gentle suggestions are used to help the client achieve deep relaxation, improve digestive function and gain greater self-awareness of behavioral and cognitive impacts on health. The client is assisted and encouraged to take an increasingly responsible role in creating a healthier lifestyle.

Polarity yoga and nutritional suggestions for your constitution, the season, or your condition are integral to the session.

Especially if your nervous system feels unbalanced, come try a session. There is no need to disrobe, just wear comfortable clothes!

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Like Polarity Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy originated with an early twentieth Century American Osteopath, Dr. William Sutherland. He recognized the potential for tiny movements between bony surfaces in the skull. Study revealed the craniosacral system: an enclosed membranous field surrounding the skull, spine, and spinal cord, and the conduit of all the impulses directing movement and sensing the environment, the nervous system.

This biosphere is continually bathed in cerebrospinal fluid, an enriched medium primarily produced in the third ventricle of the brain. It has its own tidal rhythm, distinct from the muscle-driven pulse of the bloodstream. Dr. Sutherland called this the "breath of life."

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy recognizes the craniosacral system as the core of the human energy system, its organizing fulcrum from conception.

There is no manipulation in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy; rather, the therapist uses very gentle contact, through clothing, anywhere on the body, but most often the skull (cranium) and tailbone (sacrum), the terminals of the system. Believing that the body has its own innate wisdom, intention is directed to an area of distress or tension, using specific skills, assisting and allowing the body's own self-correcting mechanism to release blockages and encourage healing.

Your body's own intelligence will direct the session, so this is absolutely safe. I enjoy seeing long-standing issues, as well as their causes, released as vital life energy is unblocked and tissues unwind in response.
